The meaning of news

The news media are set to function as the most trustworthy mechanism as they broadcast the updated information to the public. And this is the meaning of the existence of the journalists which is to convey and express the most objective viewpoints and the truth to the ordinary public in this society. 

 

However, the trust issue is becoming worse these years since the tendency of the news content is more linked with the politics, the commercial and so on. The news media is doubtful that politicians and the companies would utilize them for the sake of the wealth and some political purposes for the government. Sometimes the press has already become the tools of controlling the comments and the trend nowadays because the giant effect directs the public opinion from these mainstream media outlets.

Whether readers should trust the news media nowadays since they are where the original sources and the most of the Americans keep skeptical to the news media from the data collection. It is said to be totally objective in the news report as the journalists do, however, it is inevitable to be biased in this process. According to the data, 28% of the reporters are Democrats and 7% of them identified as Republicans. When they do the news information reports, they tend to be more supportive to their group of partisan even though they claim they are independent.

 

As a human being a journalist could never be precisely objective and what they could do, thus the process of the reporting methods would be more transparent and reasonable to gain more trust from the public. The most significant guideline for the journalists to the readers is the production of reliable information. As long as they are trying to convey the reality and truth to the public and let them judge and distinguish the information themselves, the media outlets would be more and more trustworthy at least to the common public readers. 

 

At the same time the public readers are also encouraged to be skeptical of the viewpoints and the sources since independent and critical thinking is really important when someone receives the information. The news press just worked as a medium and tunnel to let the audience have the access to the updated information but does not mean they could control over the judgement of theirs. Not only those news media ought to work on how to pass the accurate information to the public, but also the readers should have their own standpoint to interpret the news.
