You may ask, how easy is it to photoshop a picture? Pretty easy, is the simple answer. To photoshop a photo well, however, is more difficult.
Photoshop can be seen everywhere from magazine covers all the way to a basic Instagram post. Does that make it right? Absolutely not.
It has become extremely difficult to trust published photography, professionally or not, anywhere. The access to photoshop applications and materials to use has become extremely easy and affordable.
For example, I have a friend who purchased a photoshop application on her iPhone and often uses it to adjust red eye, brighten skin color, alter lighting, and plenty more. Some people, however, go above and beyond this in order to create the perfect picture.
Explained above is different features of photoshop that anyone may see on any image they come across. As you can see, the edited picture follows the guidelines of psychical attractiveness based on society's learned idea about physical attraction.
According to Tenton it is easy to learn the basics, but intermediate features take a lot of time and practice on top of money to afford a rather expensive program.
Therefore, photoshop can be easy or challenging. It is dependent on how well it is done in order to get interest and trust from viewers. Interestingly enough, photoshop people find it hard to believe something is photoshopped (at least if it is done well) until they see a before picture beside it.
It is easy to be so believable about the honesty in a photo, but when it comes down to it, we all look at celebrities and influencers and think "I want *insert characteristic here*." Which according to Revelist is is easy to let these images get to your head, even if you know they are fake.
That is the point of social media and media coverage in general. To bring attention to certain things.
Photoshop has become increasingly popular over the last few years altering the overall look of people and things all around the world. The world looks at everything differently, especially because things are edited into the latest popular trends.
Once this all became available information, viewers began to question every photograph or video that they come across since it has become so affordable, accessible, and easy to learn.
According to Revelist, again, it is one thing to alter lighting to brighten an image or edit something to make it aesthetically pleasing, but photoshop has gotten out of hand in our society.
This has caused even more lack of trust in media, today.
